Community Involvement

U.S. Central views community involvement as an extension of the “people helping people” philosophy on which credit unions have based their existence for more than a century. We actively support and participate in community organizations focused on helping others. Our Community Outreach Committee has identified several groups that provide basic necessities and family-related services to people in the local community. Charitable organizations that U.S. Central supports include:

Habitat for Humanity
Many U.S. Central employees volunteer their time to build homes for low-income families in the Greater Kansas City area.

Harvesters
U.S. Central conducts an annual food drive to collect canned goods and other non-perishable food items for the Harvesters food panty. Employees also go to the Harvesters Volunteer Outreach Center in Kansas City, Mo to sort items collected at food drives and prepare them for distribution.

Project Warmth
U.S. Central sponsors an annual coat drive for Project Warmth, which provides warm clothing to area residents during winter months.

Red Bag Program
This program provides gifts during the holiday season to Kansas City-area children not assisted by any other charitable organization.

Ronald McDonald House
U.S. Central volunteers prepare meals and bake goodies for guest families at the Ronald McDonald House in Kansas City, Mo. They also help with light cleaning, landscaping and general maintenance at the house.

Silver Friends
Several U.S. Central employees volunteer with Garden Terrace Alzheimer’s facility, providing companionship to elderly residents lacking visitors.
